Swetha Ajit Kumar is an associate of Wood Gold LLP and practices Family Law and Child Protection.
Swetha obtained her L.L.B from the University of Leicester. She completed her articles in criminal defense with prominent criminal defence lawyers in Toronto. She was called to the Bar in January, 2016.
Swetha routinely appears on behalf of her clients, before the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice. Swetha is affiliated with the Peel Law Association, Women’s law association of Ontario, Toronto Lawyer’s Association and is a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Swetha is dedicated to the protection of her client’s interests and advocates for her clients through negotiations or litigation in a cost effective manner.
Swetha’s practice focuses on all aspects of family law including custody, access, child support, spousal support, equalization of net family properties; domestic contracts ranging from marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements, separation agreements; and divorce.
Swetha’s practice in child protection includes advocating for parents or guardians to have their child returned to their care. Where the Society claims protection concerns, temporary care and custody, extended society care, and/or supervision by the society, Swetha aims to assist her clients to put forth their position in a time-sensitive and cogent manner to ensure that a child does not remain in foster care.
Swetha is an excellent negotiator and creative problem solver. Swetha is able to assist her clients outside of the court system through, mediation. However, in cases where litigation is unavoidable, Swetha is able to advocate her client’s position in court in a passionate manner. She has the ability to understand each of her client’s needs and tailors her practice to suit their individual needs.
Swetha can also offer legal services in Hindi and Malayalam.
Outside of law, Swetha enjoys drawing, painting and playing the violin.
